1. Information We Collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored only in hashed form).
• Resume content: the work history, education, skills, and other details you enter into the resume builder.
• Application records: jobs you track, application statuses, notes, and cover letters you generate.
• Subscription data: your plan status and payment reference. Card numbers are never stored on our servers — payments are processed by our PCI-compliant payment provider.
• Usage data: basic analytics such as pages visited and features used, used to improve the product.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the service: building, storing, and scoring your resumes and tracking your job applications.
• To generate AI content: your resume data may be processed by our AI providers to create bullet points, cover letters, interview questions, and company insights.
• To manage your subscription and provide support.
• To send service-related communications, such as verification codes and account notices. We do not send marketing email without your consent.

3. AI Processing

Content you submit may be sent to third-party AI providers to generate resumes, cover letters, company research, and interview preparation material. We instruct these providers not to use your content to train their models. AI output can be inaccurate — always review it before sending anything to an employer.

4. How We Share Information

• We never sell your personal data.
• Service providers: we share data only with vendors that help us operate the service (hosting, AI processing, payments), under contractual confidentiality.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
• With your consent: for example, when you choose to share a resume or apply to a job through an external platform.

5. Data Retention & Security

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, resume and application records are deleted within 30 days. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with encryption at rest. Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel.

6. Your Rights & Contact

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can do most of this directly in the app, or submit a request as described in our GDPR / CCPA page. Questions about this policy can be sent to legal@careerguard.app.
